“Something on My Mind” was the b-side to Syreeta’s first single “I Can’t Give Back the Love I Feel for You”, which was released in 1968 under the name Rita Wright.
After that single failed to chart, Wright’s solo career went on temporary hiatus as she sang backup on other artists' Motown recordings...
Something's on my mind
That's been troubling me a long, long time
Now I think it would be best if you knew
Just how much I'm in love with you
I don't think it's fair
You walk by and pretend I'm not there
Boy don't you know what you're putting me through
And just how much I've been wanting you
And ohh-oooh I've waited patiently
For you to come to me
And I've stood it as long as I can
Now I've got to know, got to know, just where I stand
And I hope you're gonna say
All the time you've been feeling the same way
And you were playing just a silly, silly game
And my loving you hasn't been in vain
(Something is on my mind, think of you all the time)
Something's on my mind
(Something is on my mind, think of you all the time)
How much I need you
(Something is on my mind, think of you all the time)
Something's on my mind
Just how much I love, just how much I need you
Something's on my mind
Something's on my mind
