“Skin” is the first single from San Cisco’s EP Flaws, and would later appear on their fourth album, Between You and Me.
According to frontman Jordi Davieson, “it’s about unrequited love… a love song about somebody dumping your sorry ass and you having no power over it.”
[Verse 1]
You say that history never repeats, but I guess it rhymes
You told me forever, I guess you just changed your mind
Was it the way I behaved to try and make you stay?
I swear the more I loved you, the further you pushed me away
Yeah
[Chorus]
Your skin on my skin is what's been missing
In my sweet dreams, you're the one that I'm kissing
Now you're gone
Are we running out of luck? Good God
'Cause I'm running out of time, tick-tock
And now you're gone
[Verse 2]
I just wanna know why when it comes to you, I'm blind
It's 'cause you come on up close to me and you whisper, "It's alright"
And did you know that your skin on my skin is what's been on my mind?
But the last time I saw you, you said it would all be fine
[Chorus]
Your skin on my skin is what's been missing
In my sweet dreams, you're the one that I'm kissing
Now you're gone
Are we running out of luck? Good God
'Cause I'm running out of time, tick-tock
And now you're gone
[Post-Chorus]
How can you go from forever to maybe one day?
You said you still love me, but in a different way
[Instrumental Break]
[Chorus]
Your skin on my skin is what's been missing
In my sweet dreams, you're the one that I'm kissing
Now you're gone
Are we running out of luck? Good God
'Cause I'm running out of time, tick-tock
And now you're gone
[Post-Chorus]
How can you go from forever to maybe one day?
You said you still love me, but in a different way
[Chorus]
Your skin on my skin is what's been missing
In my sweet dreams, you're the one that I'm kissing
Now you're gone
Are we running out of luck? Good God
'Cause I'm running out of time, tick-tock
And now you're gone
