[Verse 1]
Jazz, I wanna be as free as you
Improvise like you
I want my words to be born out of a parker horn
Riding the breeze from round monk to morn
Miles, your periods of silence awake the voices of my mind
Free spirits that I'm trying to find
That are so hard to get to, so hard for me to get to
But yet you make it seem so easy on the breeziness of j-a-z-z
As I am sitting in a breeze with jazz
[Verse 2]
Jazz for me is poetry without words
'Cause I wanna be one of those birds
Whose words are notes on the sky, that far-above ceiling
That recaptures my feeling
The form lines that I'm fond of
Like pebbles, the fall into a pond of poetic ripples
Indeed a loving friend on
An unknown shore they'll end on
Where I sit, I'm a fisherman throwing a line
To catch the currents on my mind
To free the ideas that are trying to hide
So thay can flow with my own inner tide
Ride madly off in all directions
Trying to make those inner connections
So I can be the happiest of men with my pen
When I'm caressed by the breeze of jazz
[Verse 3]
I held jazz in my arms, the breeze and her blew me
As though they knew me, made me smile
You know what? It came out all in my own style
I'm a frenetic ride on a coltrane
My brain is a tunnel to funnel my visions
I gained insight leading to my inner gold
That only I can hold on to
Age old ideas I was born to tap
To create myself through my poetry of rap
She slipped away leaping from note to note
I leaped from word to word
I went through her, she went through me
Now you can see what she means to me
As there is nothing for me as important as
Sitting in a breeze with jazz
