The 6th track off of Tribe One’s 2014 release Crisis On Intimate Earths, “Single Player Redux” is loaded with video game references applied as sexual innuendos.
“Single Player” used a different beat and had several minor changes in lyrics and flows in comparison to the “Redux” version.
[Verse 1: Tribe One]
I'm not a player I just button mash
And when I touch the gas I'm much too Fast and Furious
You're gonna have to hurry if you run in my lane
You know the name Tribe One and the same
See, love is a game and sex is a weapon
So I upgrade my shields for extra protection
I want to find chest like I'm on a side quest
And I'm always high def whether retro or next gen
I'm that extra man on the low for the horizontal mamba
Konami code like up up down down left right left right
I never settle down, I get around in my sex life
I'm not sure if I mentioned before
I've never not been top ten when I score
Only virtual boys intentions are pure
Real men are rated M for mature; So
[Chorus]
Throw your hands in the air
And wave 'em like you just don't care
'cause it ain't no thang if you hate the game
But show love for the single players
Come on now
Throw your hands in the air
And wave 'em like you just don't care
'cause it ain't no thang if you hate the game
But you gotta show love
[Verse 2: Tribe One]
Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis
XBox and a PS3
It's on like Donkey Kong
With my online friends with benefits co-op or PVP
I got a Need for Speed
And she wanna get a spin like Sonic
If you liked it then you should of put some rings on it
Even hardcore, I make this look easy
Cause I'm playing with a Game Genie
The game needs me
Somebody gotta show her how to work it
Just blow on the cartridge before you insert it
That's all it takes
I wanna see you polish the Metal Gear: Solid Snake
I'm a Lone Ranger, a true crusader
Getting in like The Sims
When I meet the new neighbors
And if she's Lara Croft from Tomb Raider
Maybe I can get down with some two player
[Chorus]
Now throw your hands in the air
And wave 'em like you just don't care
'cause it ain't no thang if you hate the game
But show love for the single players
Come on now
Throw your hands in the air
And wave 'em like you just don't care
'cause it ain't no thang if you hate the game
But you gotta show love
[Verse 3: Tribe One]
While you were thinking of a master plan
Your princess was in my castle, man
Stretched and bent like an elastic gymnastics fan
Yeah I super smashed and ran
'cause I be Mario Partying with beautiful ladies
I'm running game like Atari used to in the eighties
And this ain't the place to be acting too cute
The sweetest taboo in your raccoon suit
Baby, you got a booty too big to fail and you're already fly
Just swing your tail, I'm never the gentleman to never kiss and tell
And we can keep it undercover like a Splinter Cell
You gotta grind on the final boss
'cause my Bioshocks are never Microsoft
And I love it when you call me Big Daddy
Yeah this is Tribe One, live
Signing off
And now throw, your hands, one time, in the sky
Tonight uh
Now wave 'em all around, up and down
Side to side, like you came here to party
With Tribe One and whoever else tonight
I don't know, yeah whatever
We'll probably cut this part out in the final version
[Chorus]
Now throw your hands in the air
And wave 'em like you just don't care
'cause it ain't no thang if you hate the game
But show love for the single players
Come on now
Throw your hands in the air
And wave 'em like you just don't care
'cause it ain't no thang if you hate the game
But you gotta show love
