She will always go
Every time this story's told
I know it won't ever change
No matter how I rearrange;
I can't make this story bend
Or head it off before it ends
We all have stories, I suppose
But in mine she always goes
Well, sometimes I like to say
That I'm a different man today
Not the one that she recalls
She never really knew me at all;
Then other times I might pretend
We're both the same as we were then
I see her wearing my old clothes
But in the end she always goes
But I couldn't make her stay
That's just the way it was
But I relieve it everyday
And sometimes you'd be amazed
In my mind she almost does
You can call it what you will
But a story's yours until
The one who knows it well as you
Says she's got a story too;
But this one I'll tell my way
Although I change it day to day
We all have dreams that fade, God knows
And in mine she always goes
But this one I'll tell my way
Although I change it day to day
We all have dreams that fade, God knows
And in mine she always goes
We all have dreams that fade, God knows
And in mine she always goes
