Shalom Absalom is a pastiche of Jewish culture. Shalom is Hebrew for ‘Peace,’ and Absalom was the third son of David, King of Israel, featured in the Hebrew bible.
Interestingly enough, the name Absalom means ‘Father of Peace,’ making Shalom a bit redundant.
[Verse 1]
Shalom Absalom
God's only one
Shalom Absalom
Don't worry, son
Shalom Absalom
Walk high and proud
Shalom Absalom
Don't worry, son
Shalom
[Verse 2]
Shalom Absalom
Your work has just begun
Shalom Absalom
Don't worry, son
Shalom Absalom
Think not of the bad things to come
Shalom Absalom
Walk from Israel; you are the one
Shalom Absalom
[Verse 3]
Oh, Shalom Absalom
Brothers and sistren, all
Shalom Absalom
Babylon, of course, will fall
Shalom Absalom
Speak only of pride
Shalom Absalom
Study the Dorah; may you abide
Shalom Absalom
[Verse 4]
Shalom Absalom
Don't worry, son
Oh, Shalom Absalom
