I saw him standing there
So dirty and disheveled
When I said, "Hi,"
His eyes grew wide
Like he’d see the devil

He said, "Oh, pardon me my friend
Most tend to pass me by
They’d rather wish I didn’t exist
Than ever try and wonder why
I stand here on this corner

While they avoid my glances

I asked to buy him a drink
He said, "Thanks, I think I’ll pass
