Sandman Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Stay complacent long enough
You’ll start to feel nothing
It’s lovely until it’s rough
Give your heart to tortured souls
And they’ll leave you tattered, unraveled
And you’re the fool

[Pre-Chorus]
Talked to the moon from my window
She’s so cold, doesn’t know
I think I might close my eyes for the last time tonight, I’ll go
Wish he would pay me a visit
I’ll listen to his trope
Long as he tells me it’s beautiful and dangerous
Oh, I know

[Chorus]
Sandman, could you put me to sleep?
Kill me kindly and quiet
I’m waiting for ya
Sandman, could you make it a dream?
Holy night, I won’t cry
I’ll still adore ya

[Verse 2]
My wrists are bound to this metal bed framе
I won’t make a sound
But they love mе so much better
When I’m no longer indebted to the ground
I’m on my knees, and they’re awful bloody
Beg for what I need
‘Cause I want the little sprinkle of his magic
Take me under, pull me deep

[Pre-Chorus]
Talked to the moon from my window
She’s so cold, doesn’t know
I think I might close my eyes for the last time tonight, I’ll go
Wish he would pay me a visit
I’ll listen to his trope
Long as he tells me it’s beautiful and dangerous
Oh, I know

[Chorus]
Sandman, could you put me to sleep?
Kill me kindly and quiet
I’m waiting for ya
Sandman, could you make it a dream?
Holy night, I won’t cry
I’ll still adore ya

[Outro]
Don’t be scared
Please take my hand
Don’t be scared
Please take my hand

When did Ellise release Sandman?

Ellise released Sandman on Fri Oct 15 2021.

Why did you choose "sandman" as the last song on 'Letting the Wolf In?'

Like I said previously, I love to end a project on a vulnerable note. Sandman is essentially a song about seeing no cure to sadness, and wanting everything to end. It’s the most sad song lyrically, and I wanted to end LTWI on the sleepiest, emptiest, most melancholy song possible.

What was it like to juxtapose a dreamy instrumental with such dark lyrics?

That’s my signature! I love to make a song have a completely different sound than it does lyrical content. The actual Sandman character is a man who puts children to sleep, sends them into a world of dreams with magic dust. I wanted the instrumental to feel soft and enchanted at first, and gradually...
