How did the song come together?
Georgia and I recorded in my apartment bedroom in Los Angeles. We got most of it done and then put it on the shelf for a while. It went through a bunch of different versions and none of them quite worked. After almost a year we settled on this one
What is the inspiration behind this track?
I (Zach) wrote “Safe” after hearing Leon Bridges' “Coming Home” at my restaurant job in Los Angeles. That album sounds timeless…the songs are so thoughtful and easy to take in… “Safe” ended up being something very different but that album made me want to write a song.
What was the process of making the song like?
The song all started on the acoustic guitar and I was trying to write lyrics that ran the line between playful and heartfelt. I wanted the song to sound like a surreal journey… little weird sounds popping in and out as you move through it…to go along with the visual lyrics. It felt good to bring eve...
