Just got back from the Rotten Apple
Traffic tickets cost me about a grand so
I don't plan to drive whenever travel
Through NY, my memories of Brooklyn are bittersweet
We were sent with seeds to help plant an Epiphany
I spent the 3 years mostly driving for Lyft to eat
Not a whole lot of ministry and spitting ceased
Though I met many peeps overnight driving in the city
Sixty hours a week, (sheesh) I'd barely get to sleep
And I've got nothing to show for, my years as a chauffeur
But a Spotify playlist and some dope stories
Six figures last year and I needed mo' for
The taxes, I still ain't paid that yet. Who's most poor?
The man who has nothing but owes nothing
Or the man who owes tons and has very little that comes in
If they die are their kids inheriting something
Or more debt, their father's regrets in form of a sum fee
Trying to transition out of this transition but
The transmission's stuck so pass, cause fast isn't us
We gotta stay in our lane, it's been arranged and ordained
We don't get to change until we've changed
And I've seen what happens when cats complain
The facts remain, He hasn't changed, I'm glad he's gracious
Had the patience, for discipline after mad mistakes
He saw past my nature and past Behavior a path to shape
A path I've taken willingly, straight through Philly streets
Felt like the place was meant to be
Home forever but then we'd leave
I guess we get to breathe reluctant stuck in MD
Believing something better is coming till then we dream
When they say why I say it's my nature
I'm not it's slave but, sometimes it feels like I'm anchored
I aim up, but can't touch, the freedom I crave 'cause
The weight's too great to escape till I'm made dust...
Thanos snapped and half the track vanished
Bonus bars for that post credit
Jerome Bettis with a toe fetish has mo' relevance
I know it makes no sense let it go dead it...
