“Room 138” is the ending track on the band’s self-titled album. The song talks about an overdose that the vocalist, Danny Worsnop, had before getting kicked off of the band, as Ben Bruce said:
“Room 138” was the room that Danny overdosed in many years ago. I think it was while we were recording Fro...
[Intro]
On my back, breathin' heavy, starin' at the light
Prayin' this ain't the end, but pretty sure it might be
On my back, got my heart beatin' out of my chest
I never thought, can't believe that I'd go out like this
(Go out like this, go out like this, go out like this, go out like this)
(Go out like this, go out like this, go out like this)
[Chorus]
So these are the walls that have to hold this moment
I never expected to be here again
My vision is blurrin' as the light starts to fade
Please, pull me out from this
[Verse]
My ribs are breakin', I swear, I'm only 23
Crawlin', searchin' for a lifeline I just can't reach
Somebody, hear me; someone, open up the door
Get me up off of this floor and stop the shakin', the shakin'
The blood is boilin' in my veins, oh God, the pain, it's unrelentin'
I'm ready for the end if it means that all of this will end
[Chorus]
So these are the walls that have to hold this moment
I never expected to be here again
My vision is blurrin' as the light starts to fade
Please, pull me out from this
[Bridge]
Through the haze, I saw a face (Come to me)
A second chance, another life to live (Come to me)
How did you forgive me? (Come to me)
Held my head against your chest (Come to me)
Told me everything's alright, don't be afraid (Come to me)
Close your eyes and rest
Through the haze, I saw a face
A second chance, another life to live
How did you forgive me?
Held my head against your chest
Told me everything's alright, don't be afraid
[Chorus]
So these are the walls that have to hold this moment
I never expected to be here again
My vision is blurrin' as the light starts to fade
Please, pull me out from this
[Outro]
(Come to me, come to me, come to me, come to me, come to me)
Please, pull me out from this
(So these are the walls that have to hold this moment)
Please, pull me out from this
Room 138 was written by Ben Bruce & Danny Worsnop.
Room 138 was produced by Matt Good.
Asking Alexandria released Room 138 on Fri Dec 15 2017.
Ben Bruce told Rock Sound about it:
This song is really interesting. It might not have the biggest hooks or be the most mature, but this song is really special. “Room 138” was the room that Danny overdosed in many years ago. I think it was while we were recording From Death To Destiny actually. You...
There’s no clue about that. Danny doesn’t even remember many things of his youth (that’s what drugs and alcohol can do with your brain) and he had so many girls around him that it is not very likely.
It tells a real experience of Danny on drugs.
