I rode into town one day
Dusty, broke and tired
Worn out from the Lonesome Trail
A working man for higher
It's been a couple weeks now
Since I've had a decent meal
The cowboy boots I'm wearing
Or rubbing blisters on my heels

I stumbled on a ranch one day
Their old top hand had gone
They took a liking to my face
And said they take me on
Now I change out of these western clothes
And clock out my time card
And ride off onto Sunset Boulevard

I once was picking peaches
In the Salinas Valley sun
Now the spotlights burn so hot
Thеy make my makeup run
I drove hеre from Ohio
In a beat up Model T
Now the horse I'm riding on
Is a bigger star than me

I never had a real fist fight
Or drove a cattle herd
But I can sing and yodel
Just as pretty as a bird
My stunt man always shows up
When my work gets too hard
As I ride off onto Sunset Boulevard

Some ride off into the sunset
But a cowboy movie star
Rides off onto Sunset Boulevard
