The name “Poppyfields” was first revealed in September 2007 when Coldplay published a note signed as “Prospekt”. The name “Prospekt’s March” appeared for the first time in December of the same year, signed by the same pseudonym.
[Part I: Prospekt's March]
[Verse]
Smoke is risin' from the houses, people buryin' their dead
I ask somebody what the time is, but time doesn't matter to them yet
People talkin' without speakin', tryna take what they can get
I ask you if you remember, Prospekt, how could I forget?
[Pre-Chorus]
Drums, here it comes
Don't you wish that life could be as simple as fish swimmin' 'round in a barrel when you've got the gun?
Oh, when I run, here it comes
We're just two little figures in a soup bowl tryna get behind a kind of control, but I wasn't one
[Chorus]
Now here I lie on my own in a separate sky
And here I lie on my own in a separate sky
I don't wanna die on my own here tonight
But here I lie on my own in a separate sky
[Part II: Poppyfields]
[Instrumental]
