My mum didn’t have no job
So she had to do with a little old shop
Selling ice block and ice water 7up
Some lollipop some time choco pops
Straight from school then am back into the shop
Sell a couple hundred bucks put it in the yellow box
I was learning the rules of the dreams that i got
She was giving me the tools for when the big drop
Then i hold on to the hip hop
Saying i ain’t letting go see the problems i got
So we straight to the studio then i go cooking
Whole different type of beat in a real kitchen
Worriеd for the homies what they gon еat
Cause my mama used to say thats how a lady gon be
Then i climb okada okota to ojota
I gotta go to yaba to squat with Leila
Stress all of this stress
Look at this pimples Look at this mess
Maine fuck what i look like
Am look for the me that don’t look like the one without the good life
You still wanna look real pretty real pretty
Put some make up on like am on tv on tv
Used to wanna look real pretty real pretty
Put some make up on like am on tv
How happy you would be if you ever had a dream
Come with ease so you never loose sleep
Like when my mama had me driving in the car
Then came the rain then it poured
She said i looked like i was ready for the world
But i guess i didn’t realise that it would be this hard
All i ever think about is how i go far
Buy my mum a new car maybe range rover
Wake up no make ups
Still broke but i never say am gon stop
Go back in the booth tell Gray Jones
Turn up the snare in my head phones
Thats that line from that Eminem song
That i had to memorize before i wrote rhymes
Before i knew i could survive in this life time
You still wanna look real pretty real pretty
Put some make up on like am on tv on tv
Used to wanna look real pretty real pretty
Put some make up on like am on tv
In a little way i consider myself a story teller
I think thats the first thing that i ever did, growing up as a child
Story telling i was... was always writing it was always important for me to tell a story
Urged me to be a writer so with music and with rap am always tryna do that well
And em as a writer i think that am fearless in some ways, am not just any writer
As a human being as well i think am careless in some ways
And i think that that tells a lot in the kind of decisions that i make with my art with my work
And em am really really independent of everybody else's opinions
I like to hear what people have to say but at the end of the day am always with my gut feelings
I think thats how i stay alive listening to my instincts
