Playing House

I never liked playing house
Even at six, there was something about it
That didn't fit me
I had all the tea cups
Whole kitchen set up, pretty outfits
Never felt like the real me
And something about that feels a whole lot like this
But the difference is

When the cups fall they break
The food and the feelings ain't fake
At the end of the day
I can't, leave the play date
Didn't think when I grew up I'd still have to pretend
But here I am
Just playing house

But they don't fit me
Is it really happening
This ain’t no cracker jack ring
But it doesn’t seem real to me
I thought by now I'd feel something
So I hold on, to dreams that lead nothing
