[Spoken: Ariana Grande]
The way that Cynthia lets us in to Elphaba in the Ozdust Ballroom is so special and so moving, and it is a massive turning point for both Elphaba and Glinda, and I think it was just such a beautiful, and everyone was kind of just holding space for Elphaba in that room, and you could hear a pin drop any second of that entire day. It was really, really beautiful
[Spoken: Cynthia Erivo]
It wasn't enough just to have a piece of choreography, 'cause then it would just be choreography, it's just her dancing. What we were looking for was what was she trying to say with this piece and what was she trying to do, and once we got to the cracks of it, once we got to the center of what this piece was for her, then we could find the language, the words, and the words are the movement, the singular movements that we put together to create an entire paragraph or a sentence or a song, and that's the language we had to find so once we found what we wanted, all those things came together to share the pain that she was enduring and to share the loneliness and to share the defiance, but also the surrender to being okay with being alone.
