[Verse 1]
Some things I can't undo (I wish I could)
'Cause I'm bruised and so are you
Laying there in our room (I wish I could)
Are you thinking about me too?
Losing sleep every night, troubled thoughts like parasites
I can't stop them, I can't hide, though I try
[Chorus]
I keep going over it over in my mind
But I'm not getting over it, over it, I
Put it all to bed and pretend that I don't mind
But now I see you're over it, oh, I just can't get over it, I
[Verse 2]
Sugarcoat my wounds in salt (I wish I could)
Tell me it's all my fault
You don't swallow any pride (I wish I could)
Wrapped in a web of lies
[Chorus]
I keep going over it over in my mind
But I'm not getting over it, over it, I
Put it all to bed and pretend that I don't mind
But now I see you're over it, oh, I just can't get over it, I
[Bridge]
You and I can't be together
When you're holding out for something better
Nothing ever lasts forever, but I'm holding on because
[Chorus]
I keep going over it over in my mind
But I'm not getting over it, over it, I
Put it all to bed and pretend that I don't mind
But now I see you're over it, oh, I just can't get over it, I
Over It was written by Nicolas Schneider & Olivia Sebastianelli & Oliver Burden & Bambie Thug & Cassyette.
It came to me the day after I wrote my song “Mayhem” – it was like a part two of the song. I actually left it for a while and came back to it a year later, unable to let the song go, I realised I wasn’t able to let the feelings go either.
It feels very much like it’s had a few different life cycles...
