i wrote open around 3 or 4 in the morning in my grandmother’s basement bedroom during a week stay at her house, weeks following my grandfather dying. i think writing the verse took about 15-30 minutes & recording took around the same amount of time. i recorded my verse with the mic on this pair...

initially this wasn’t going to be released but i ultimately decided against vaulting it.
but, i wanted to keep it unreleased for a few reasons: for one, this was a vent track i made for the sake of hearing myself attempt to make sense of the trauma i was struggling with.
