[Verse 1]
I-35 North bound and the sun ain’t up yet
Like we skating
Riding with my son shot gun got love for the loveless
If they hate us
Red eye flight long light slow us down ain’t upset
We gone make it
We be running through the airport
Like a rare sport
Catch some breath
Then we racing Boy
Sometimes I get impatient
Tell my son, “he better pick up the pace.”
Then I know I got to model The Father
So I pick up his bags and I run in his place
So we stroll on to our flight
Sweat dripping off of our faces
And Southwest don’t assign seats
So we looking for two spots vacant, Now he looking at some pictures
Of his baby sister
And I know that he miss her
We’ve been traveling all winter
And I said, “It would slow down in the spring.”
But I guess I lied
We got booked for another show then another show
Now we on the road and we gone ride
[Chorus]
This earth is not our home
One day we'll kneel down at the throne
Praise God forever not alone
So just wait till we get home
[Verse 2]
I spent my Saturday at the baggage claim and it’s sad to say that I get stressed
Got a paper due 8 pages due getting way confused trying to ingest
All the chapters they want us to master, chasing that classic A on this big test
So I’m backstage back packed laced with all the notes on this text! I’m about to face the lights
About to grace the stage
But before I take the mic! Make sure my paper saved
Then I pray it up with my DJ
Yeah that’s my son that we raised
Want to edify not entertain when we giving praise on the stage
But after the show everybody need my ear but I got to fight
That in the midst of the crowd my son don’t disappear like He’s not in sight, a lot of nights
Headed back to the hotel on the tenth floor where there’s no where to really go
FaceTime prayers tuck my daughter in bed not there but I did it through the celly though
[Chorus]
This earth is not our home
One day we'll kneel down at the throne
Praise God forever not alone
So just wait till we get home
[Verse 3]
Flight leaves the eleventh hour
Skating on clouds over every mountain
Son got the OJ boy you better down it
I already see the Devon Tower
405 to the 580 south bound we go
About to be home to the house we know, peddle down we roll we pound that road
High five when we get home
See my daughter peaking through the window
Wifey meet me on the front porch
My son always turn away when we kiss tho'
Now we around that table so grateful the family stay intact
And then we share pics from the trip being home sick still exist when we make it back
The pain she feel I feel too
The hurt they feel I will too
Even though we under this roof we struggle to move
Pilgrims gotta till through
So we open up that word devo (devotional) to give us shalom
As we hold our hands to pray I say just wait till we get home
[Chorus 3]
This earth is not our home
One day we'll kneel down at the throne
Praise God forever not alone
So just wait till we get home
