Echo & the Bunnymen
A brutal and menacing song, rife with equally evil orchestration. Its meaning is wide open to interpretation, but for me, there are three possibilities.
1. Its deeply, darkly sexual content (take me internally) suggests seduction.
2. A drug, such as heroin, speaking to the addict in the first person...
[Verse 1]
In an ice-capped fire
Of burning wood
In our world of wire
Ignite our dreams
Of starry skies
And you and me
As realized
Our bigger themes
[Chorus]
Oh, take me internally
Forever yours
Nocturnal me
Take me internally
Forever yours
Nocturnal me
[Verse 2]
Do or die
What's done is done
True beauty lies
On the blue horizon
Who or why
What's one is one
In pure disguise
Of vulgar sons
[Chorus]
Oh, take me internally
Forever yours
Nocturnal me
Take me internally
Forever yours
Nocturnal me
[Bridge]
Whatever burns, burns eternally
So take me in turns internally
When I'm on fire, my body will be
Forever yours, nocturnal me
[Verse 1]
In an ice-capped fire
Of burning wood
In our world of wire
Ignite our dreams
Of starry skies
And you and me
As realized
Our bigger themes
[Chorus]
Oh, take me internally
Forever yours
Nocturnal me
Take me internally
Forever yours
Nocturnal me
