New Thing

Waking up, I drag myself out of bed
I can’t escape this overwhelming sense of dread
When it finally feels like I can spend, my life like I want
I’ve got a new thing, but I'm down the same hole again

Try my best at writing
Some meaning into whining
Rhyme hypnotize with nacho fries
Like it means anything

All the kids around my age
Are planning out their dreams
While I'm still tryna figure out
Why I’m so bad at everything

Riding in a bus at dawn
To go back to the place I hate
Everything is hanging onto
Another one of my mistakes

Someone I knew in high school
Sitting across the aisle
I knew she wouldn’t recognize me
She’s got a gun inside her Bible

My thoughts betray my conscience
Feel like I’m lying to myself
What difference would it make
It's what I do with everyone else

No one’s called me in six months
No one cares if I need help
Yet they come to me with problems
That they could have fixed themselves
