“MZRY” (pronounced ‘misery’) was the fourth single from Crown The Empire’s fourth full-length album Sudden Sky with an animated music video being released on the 19th June 2019.
“MZRY” explores Andrew’s (vocalist) struggles with his feelings and ruminating on them. He states that he didn’t know whe...
[Verse 1]
All along I was scared to breathe
So afraid that the world was gonna leave me behind
In the dark, I refused to see
That I was barely alive
It's such a bitter pill to swallow
But I learned to call it "reality"
I didn't wanna wake up, I didn’t wanna wake up
I didn't wanna wake up and miss the misery
[Verse 2]
All along I refused to believe
Paranoid that my fear already left me to die
In the end, when I stopped, I could see
That I was feeding the lie
Caught in between another time and place
When no one cared to know my name
Feels like it's never enough
When is it ever enough?
[Pre-Chorus]
I build it up just to tear it back down again
Fighting fate only to surrender, only to surrender
[Chorus]
I'm the worst at letting go
To the scars I loved the most
Will they bury me, bury me now?
Running from the worst in me
Left me broken, wondering
Will they bury me, bury me now?
[Bridge]
It's such a bitter pill to swallow
But I learned to call it "reality"
I didn't wanna wake up, I didn't wanna wake up
I didn't wanna wake up
It's such a bitter pill to swallow
But I learned to call it "reality"
I didn't wanna wake up, I didn't wanna wake up
I didn't wanna wake up and miss the misery
[Breakdown]
I hold the key to escaping my reality
I hold the key to creating my identity
[Pre-Chorus]
I build it up just to tear it back down again
Fighting fate only to surrender, only to surrender
[Chorus]
I'm the worst at letting go
To the scars I loved the most
Will they bury me, bury me now?
Running from the worst in me
Left me broke and wondering
Will they bury me, bury me now?
Will they bury me, bury me now?
They won't bury me, bury me now

Crown The Empire released MZRY on Wed Jun 19 2019.
Lead singer Andy Leo commented on Instagram:
Discovering that my relationship with life is a direct reflection of how I see myself. Be miserable = Only see bad things happening. Our trauma makes us, but what we do with it is up to us.
Prior to the release of Sudden Sky, Crown The Empire released a short video of “MZRY” on their Instagram and Twitter accounts with the following description:
Depression and anxiety play a huge role in our lives as we tour 8-9 months out of the year and submerse ourselves into this bizarre lifestyle...
Drummer, Brent Taddie, did not want to be in the “MZRY” music video as he had been ‘traumatised’ by the bags in the “Sudden Sky” music video and so this sparked the idea of an animated music video
