My Son

When I asked him
If he would
Like to go outside
He just laughed
And told me
He's spending the night online
So I go to my office
To try to forget this
My kid, who I so miss
My greatest purpose

But I remember
When
I changed his diapers
How happy we were
And I'm still his father

So I wish that we could
Go shoot some hoops
And I hope he's not forgotten
How he begged to get those shoes
When I bought them, he hugged me and said "Dad, I love you!"
For the last time out loud
I hope it's still true

But I remember
When I'd change his diapers
How happy we were
And I'm still his father
So I hope that one day
When my life is done
