“My Divine Sin” was inspired by the relationship between Iris Winnow and Roman Kitt in Rebecca Ross’s novel Divine Rivals. The two artists had previously worked together in 2022 for the song “Gunpoint”, and were eager to collaborate again.
[Verse 1: Tessa Barcelo]
Silence in the night
Pull me closer, listening for sirens on the rise
Pray that we survive
Just a moment, hold against the roaring tide
[Pre-Chorus: Tessa Barcelo]
There are no gods now
None that we can trust
So hold your arms out
It's just us
[Chorus: Tessa Barcelo, Gio Navas]
In the shadows, in the dawn
To your whispers, I am holding on
If you see me, can you make a vow?
Hope is hungry, say it with me now
Stay with me now
Say it with me now
Stay with me now
Say it with me now
Stay with me now
Say it with me now
Stay with me now
[Verse 2: Gio Navas]
If we echo the gods in all we are
Then your letters reach me like a psalm
Underneath our skin we are human
Die before our life begins
[Pre-Chorus: Tessa Barcelo & Gio Navas]
Fleeting seconds
Falling through our hands
So hold your arms out
Love me while you can
[Chorus: Gio Navas]
In the shadows, in the dawn
To your whispers, I am holding on
If you see me, can you make a vow?
Hope is hungry, say it with me now
Stay with me now
[Bridge: Tessa Barcelo]
The shrapnel covered land
The steel embroidered in your hands
I'll hold on and bleed
There are no gods to feed
So darling, set me free
[Chorus: Tessa Barcelo & Gio Navas]
The ground is falling under us
So I hold on to your ink-stained palms
If you see me, can we make a vow?
One more time as smoke is rolling in
