The sun sets, the streets are swept
I return to my bed
At winter's end comes springtime dread
But summer stretches out to remind me
In California, I'll mourn for ya
The friends that I will have to leave behind
I'm gonna buy new boots
And I'll brush my teeth
I'll open up a book
And I'll stay clean for a while
I dreamt of it, I gained from it
In my head, I think I'll send a letter
The message will say "get better"
Just to see if they're kids who'll respond
But California, where summer lasts forever
I won't have to care much at all
I'm gonna buy new boots
And I'll brush my teeth
I'll open up a book
And I'll stay clean for a while
