This song was written about a man named Eugune Loh, from Malibu, California (the band’s hometown) who would do calisthenics on the beach naked. He died on March 1st, 2018. Quotes from interviews with him are featured throughout the song.
[Mr. Loh singing]
As long as I can see the ocean breaking, the ocean break on herself
It will remind me that all the shit I'm feeling will soon be, will be alright
It's gonna be alright
Mr. Loh, he finds the water
And seems to wash this place off, as the dolphins jump and play
He speaks to us in the sand
Do you know the meaning of life or are you just a simple man?
And then he swims away, swims away
Mr. Loh, will you speak to me?
You're the only one I understand
Mr. Loh, will you sing to me?
You're the only one who makes sense
Mr. Loh's not afraid to be naked, but some men fall from grace
They're not secure with themselves
He doesn't measure people by things we consider important
Can't seem to comprehend today, so he swims away, swims away
Mr. Loh, will you speak to me?
You're the only one I understand
Mr. Loh, will you sing to me?
You're the only one who makes sense
[Mr. Loh: "Contact with nature, now that's very important
Normally, in society it's too busy, busy, busy, busy
Not much time to, you know, talk to yourself or talk to nature"]
As long as I can see the ocean break on herself as the dolphins jump and play
It will remind me that all the shit I'm feeling will soon be alright
Mr. Loh, will you speak to me?
You're the only one I understand
Mr. Loh, will you sing to me?
You're the only one who makes sense
Mr. Loh
Mr. Loh
This shit's gonna be alright
[Mr. Loh singing]
