The meadow's dawny hue
Collects awakening colors in shades of blue
While sudden clouds of white
Above the dazzed haven begin the morning light
And heavy with the velvet print of dew-drop's touch
The grass leans closely on the ground
And trees of black are reaching out to clutch
The promise of the early sound
While birdsong's sober grace
Is arching high the space above the haze
As the mist fades
I can see the other shore:
Shapeless figures met in blue
Catch my eyes with hastened movement
That interrupts the silent grace
Halfway hidden - fairly distant
Two people running in wild chase
I cannot hear the noise they make
They seem to have a fight
One of them runs off
While the other one falls down
No sound of life around
Birdsong's hushed in a freeze
Shadows on the ground
I shudder in a sudden breeze
