Monologue

It was the 3rd of July and I was waiting for you to come by train from the big town
I was in the small town working on laboratory rats that summer
We were testing their behaviours in different mazes
I see the similarities in us humans
Our lives are just like mazes of obstacles and turns that we solve differently depending on our different conditions
Just like the rats
The town smelled of rain that day
It was such a romantic night and I took the car from the countryside where I lived at my parent's house
When I asked you when you would arrive, you said "6:08pm"
And I knew that that was wrong because I've been taking these trains for years
And I knew you would come 6:28
When you said, "Yeah sorry, that's right", I said, "Well, I know my trains"
You know, to sound cool
And then the train arrived at the platform
It took some time for you because you walk in the wrong direction at first and I was wondering where you went
So I called you for the first time
I'd never heard your voice on the phone before
My stomach filled up with butterflies and it was the most beautiful voice I'd ever heard
You laughed and I laughed and I told you to turn left instead of right
[?] walk towards you
I saw you coming down the escalators and you saw me, I saw you
There was this weird and wonderful feeling of "should we kiss or should we not?"
But you kissed me and I kissed you
Then we took the car back to the countryside in the rain and "Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart" was playing on the radio
It was such a perfect moment
The sun was about to go down and all of the large yellow fields sparkled in gold
This was only the beginning
We both knew that
