Michael was no normal boy
When we used to play with toys
Now he would laugh and run about
No one really had a doubt
Cos when you have that devil on your shoulder
You do the classroom tinkle when he told you

It's a funny old world for Michael
We should help him whenever we can
You know we ought to lend a hand to Michael
He doesn't know what he's got

We could help him but he never wants any help

I made my way to Footherly
Past the giant Alder tree
An unexpected sight I see
Young Michael sobbing quietly
And I don't know if Michael could see me
But his eyes seemed to puncture right through
And for all of the times that we teased him
I wish I could be in Michael's shoes
Cos I don't want him to cry no more

And it's a funny old world for Michael
We should help him whenever we can
