Metal Or Meat?

In the temples, cults were burning loved ones, sacrificing them to God
In the psychics homes they knew the saucers would be landing on earth soon
Evacuation was in progress, Japanese were hiding underground
And the whole world waited for the sky to shine, listening for foreign sounds

But in this country of plentiful boasts the warnings went unheard
It was a conspiracy against panic, the government would not believe a word
So I stood for a moment and waited and therе was no doubt in my mind
We were about to havе a visit of a very intelligent life

In Egyptian pyramids the citizens lay hiding waiting for a sign
And through the power of persuasion, astronomers sat gazing towards the sky
And there marching in formation, infantries and armies were on hand
Modern science was injecting a kind of silent fear throughout the land

As we await the first fleet, will they be metal or meat?
I want to touch their voltage helmets
I want to study my reflection in their mirrored skin
