Memory Lane

I often go wanderin' down memory lane
To see friendly faces and find you somewhere
It's a strange, sad, and wonderful place full of pain
But I still love walking down memory lane

Trees line the pavement and the grass looks so green
You wave from a park bench, no cracks at the seams
The leaves are suspended half-way down the frame
But I can't bring myself to walk away

So I start floating towards you in a breeze
Blown by the winds of nostalgia and anxiety
You shoot me a look that blows straight through my brain
Saying you really should stop coming down memory lane

And sometimes I don't want, no I don't dare
Head home to the present 'cause I know I won't find you there
So I stay in this place that I've found full of bright blues and grey
And build me a house that lasts down memory lane
