Meltwater

To the south we saw the cloud, to the north was sun
We were curving off the ridge, we were climbing down
Down in the shadows a thousand feet below
A lake was frozen over turned to glass and stone

We were stealing to see how far we could go
Till we were leaning at the edge of the world
And looking over we saw ourselves and the sky
In the meltwater for us to sample and hold

Tarnishing the silver, breathing on the glass
Fingers on the crystal as we snap the grass
Thieves on the water gatecrash the air
Till the ice would not support us and we fled from there

We were stealing to see how far we could go
