Medicine for Loneliness

There was a traveling man who came through our town
Called to everyone, "Come gather 'round!"
"Have I got something for you," he said
"to heal all of your ailments
The medicine for loneliness."
And then he cracked a smile, said
"It only takes awhile...wash all your worries away..."
So, how much would you pay? The medicine for loneliness

Well, everyone in that town wanted to live that sorrow-free life
So they gave that man evеrything that they had
And when they had nothing lеft
Don't you know they still wanted more
But that traveling man was nowhere to be found
And they looked all around, but he had already left town
On the road well before dawn
In the next town 'fore they knew he was gone
With his medicine for loneliness
And he smiled to himself
Because he don't need nobody's help
Always on the road to somewhere else -
