The third song on Spoon’s Girls Can Tell is a cover of a song by mid-90’s Austin, Texas band The Sidehackers. The original songwriter, John Clayton, would later play bass guitar on Spoon’s fourth record, Kill the Moonlight.
[Verse 1]
There's a girl in my yard
Reading to me tarot cards
She don't know anything
But she's beautiful to me
[Verse 2]
My eyes are opening again
I see you as you're marching in
I'll bring you cover when you're cold
You'll bring me youth when I grow old
[Verse 3]
Do you remember when you were small?
How everybody would seem so tall?
I am your shadow in the dark
I have your blood inside my heart
Me and the Bean was written by John Clayton.
Me and the Bean was produced by Mike McCarthy & Jim Eno & Britt Daniel.
Spoon released Me and the Bean on Tue Feb 20 2001.
