Lotus Eaters is a song about our societies sleeping on backwards change. It’s also about our constant need to grasp from somewhere “bigger” (a saviour, whether that’s a god or a politician), without realising that all we’ve got is ourselves and each other.
They greet you on the street they say hello
It’s like no place you visited before
They open their hearts
How much do you take for a new start?
Lotus-eaters
Forgetful cheaters
They move they teeter
They wait for him
And in their darkness
Enlightenment occurs
Goodbye to sadness
They say then sleep
You go to sleep
You go to sleep
They go to sleep
Wake me up
Lotus-eaters
Forgetful cheaters
They move they teeter
They wait for him
And in their darkness
Enlightenment occurs
Goodbye to sadness
They say then sleep
They go to sleep
Who’s going to wake them up?
