London May was the drummer for Samhain. Oldham accompanied the band on their November-Coming-Fire tour in 1986 as a photographer for the opening band, Maurice.
The song was originally written for the 2022 film Night of The Bastard, which starred London May as the character Reed.
[Verse 1]
Leave it to solitude all along
Only the lonely can be so strong
Never has anyone made such a fuss
Death looks in the window as only death must
Or you will find that with thoughtful action you will rise
Never to suffer, never to die
[Chorus]
Maybe we'll always be this way
After our horrific night comes bright day
You may want to stay
[Verse 2]
Lose yourself in another wild night
On and on and on and on
Need to decide who will win this fight
Devil will say your time's come and gone
Or you will find that things have come to coincide
Now is the time to die
[Chorus]
Maybe we'll always be this way
After our horrific night comes bright day
Yellow and gray
(Yellow and gray)
[Bridge]
Love
Overcomes
Nothing
Despite
One's
Needs
[Chorus]
Maybe we'll always be this way
After our horrific night comes bright day
You may want to stay
(You may want to stay)
Maybe we'll always be this way
After our terrific night comes dark day
You may run away
Yes you may
Yes you may
Yes you may
