Wanna be an editor? Wanna be able to edit, accept or reject the annotations you want to edit, accept or reject? Take it from someone who has the experience. Feel free to guess what some of this means and add your own community annotations!

FOR WHITE-HAT EYES ONLYHa-ha, never mind. Just kidding. Mods, God Mods, Editors, Regulators, are welcome to read too.
I can't write anything on being a staff member, WHO to editor, working on the engineering team, and stuff like that because I NEVER DID. I don't work on any website, I can't debate on who to editor because I don't have enough experience with this stuff, and I wasn't on the engineering team. But one thing that did happen to me was getting editored.
And because I got editored, I might just know a bit more than you "white-hats" about this stuff. Unless you've been de-editored, but the possibilities vary, so I won't waste time listing them all.
So...where do I start?
Oh, here:
1. Before you even THINK about tating, go to a random moderator, regulator or editor's page and check out their tates. Pick up information on how they've done it (example: making numbered lists for multiple entendre situations, using links to other websites as proof of their explanation, adding pictures, etc.) and make a mental/real list on including those mods' annotating strategies in your own 'tates.
2. Look it up in the RG guides if you don't know how to do it! Well, here are some basics:
Pictures - just paste the web link and it'll auto-embed. Same with YouTube vids, SoundCloud, and a few others.
Web links: [text](www.linkofthesite.com)
Bold, italics and underline - 1 asterisk for italics, 2 for bold, and 3 for both.
3. Make inferences on lyrics and just think about what the meaning is. If you're more of a jotting-things-down person (I'm definitely a do-this-in-my-head person), write your ideas down. Plan your tates on a piece of paper, then write the good copy down on a separate piece of paper.
4. Search for images! I used Google Images, but you can use other sites and search engines if you'd like. To get the link for a gif on another web, drag the image to the top bar of your browser, and it'll automatically go to the link you want. Google Images is simpler, just click "view image" on the desired picture.
5. You're ready to 'tate! Go to the song you were planning to annotate (or, for more disorganized people like myself, go to any song that you like) and TATE IT, for goodness' sake! Add the picture. Do whatever you picked up from your model moderator's tates in the beginning.
6. Write more and more and MORE! As long as your tates are excellent, you are more than welcome to write more!
7. Whatever you do, DON'T act desperate while contacting an ed/mod saying that you want your tates to be checked. You can still ask, but it's better to act like you don't care instead of desperate. I wasn't desperate at all, but if YOU are, resist the temptation. Don't act childish/desperate, even IF it can be agony to just sit there and pretend you don't care. You can do it. And when one of us do contact you, ask for more specific tips on how to make your tates even better.
8. Soon enough, there will probably be a mod who makes a deal with you. Might be something like "Ten more tates with even higher quality and I'll editor you," or "I'll make you an editor as long as you behave and not post any unnecessary comments with the suggestion box". Is also known as "editor challenge". It depends on your annotating skills and your ability to NOT post porn everywhere.
9. You'll get editored soon! As long as you do your best on these tips, your editorship is almost guaranteed. Unless you...

- Don't write TOO much or you'll be considered an IQ whore
That's it for now! Good luck on your journey!-Jess
P.S. If you were de-ed, then it depends on what got you de-ed. Just do your best to prove that you won't do it again!
