Kodak Portra 400 (Interlude)

Verse 1:

Through my entire time living, I been through a couple things and still felt like giving
Through it all always felt like I had a pair of wings on my back, listen
Now I feel like they’ve been stripped off me
Confidence ripped off, feeling embarrassed with no hand to hold
Always took situations with a grain of salt but this one cut me open, feel like my soul - has been tried often
Never died but now it’s in a coffin
And I’m right next to it like a pallbearer
If it don’t get more better I have no choice but to give in
To the ways of this world and try to fit in, in these empty spaces
Turn the tv on and see these raising cases, and they still tell us that we’re still in the infant stages

I never tried to be understood
Never lied to be understood or lived for it but
I’d be lying to say I wanna leave this world that way, is it for acceptance ?
Or to show this world I done driven through a highway for a purpose
And never stopped for gas, but how is that fair though
Always shown that this world is never fair and I could tell though but I was
Naïve and in denial of the truth
Always saw what the target was but, I could never learn to aim or shoot
Or cause I never taught myself or could never entertain a fool
And remained myself and always made it my own rules
I guess the story will be told when my heart no longer pulses
