I. "Jessica Stone"
[Instrumental Intro]
[Verse 1]
Why didn't she stay?
I never knew
I never met her
Why couldn't she wait?
We should have known
Each other better
[Chorus]
Why was she alone
When she went home?
Jessica Stone
[Verse 2]
She thought she could run
It seemed like fun
She couldn't make it
I gave her my love
She had enough
She couldn't take it
[Chorus]
Why was she alone
When she went homе?
Jessica Stone
[Instrumental Bridge]
[Verse 3]
I needed hеr smile
Just for a while
She wouldn't show it
She kept it inside
Next to her pride
No one would know it
[Chorus]
So why was she alone
When she went home?
Jessica Stone
[Instrumental Bridge]
[Instrumental Outro]
II. Narration
When I first got the two letters from the government, telling me I'd have to go through with all this, I really didn't care what happened. Then, at this point, in the light of my failures with Claudia and Jessica, I was glad that I didn't care, because I was now positive that the Government was fixing it; fixing it so that I couldn't succeed and would have to do my army time besides. And I couldn't escape. Where could I go? I didn't care whether I ever met Barbara. What had happened to all my freedom? What had happened to California?
