One of the most straightforward songs of the record, “It’s a Catalogue” seems to describe the objects a couple has left behind after their apparently inescapable demise. The whole song makes great use of Gropper’s falsetto, building to a vibrant instrumental outro.
Towels and trunks, a parasol
Ah, Spring '09, Costa del Sol
That French chestnut flour, long since expired
But quite important
Tickets (unused) for "Annie Hall"
We could have learned to ruin it all
A toothbrush, a comb seem gross to keep
But oh so precious
[Chorus]
Right in the midst of our glory
Right in the bliss of our love
Right at the peak of the story
We secretly wish to be doomed
Tinsel and angels and tiny bells
Terry cloth shoes from resort-hotels
The postcards from tour, the Rome's one fake
It's from Bologna
[Chorus]
Right in the midst of our glory
Right in the bliss of our love
Right at the peak of the story
We secretly wish to be doomed
Relentlessly, our love
Suspiciously, our love
Enviably, our love
Sincerely yours, my love
My love
