It Ended When It Began

I was reaching for a ripe fruit and it fell from the tree
It landed in the memory cascade
The misunderstood one
The one that had tan hues and it’s personality was made of marmalade
Ideas and people are the same
One of the many different caricatures of your frustrations
They burst like a monthly round incoming paycheck
And ignite a pale ugly red pottery fuse
I wanted that too
And I had one of those as well
Back then though
I must admit it doesn’t bother me anymore
The dopamine hunger divide sits at my party table
Awkward and no talking happens at all
I cried
But the silence deadened the sound waves of it
And my iPhone dinged
Then I felt a feather pillow cushion collect notes
It gathered my precious narrows
And politely sat them in a wood tethered basket
I tried my best
Something ended when something new started
