“I Shot The Manager” is a song mocking Eric Clapton, who made racist anti-black statements in 1976 (the year before 10 Mistakes was released), but profited off black music by covering songs by black artists such as Bob Marley.
Hi boys and girls
We're Sportivo and we're going to sing about money
G-I-B-S-O-N
Guitars on my T-shirt
I play the blues and I think I've got
The most expensive Firebird
When Mayall plays the blues
I feel like cryin' too
It's so easy anyone can do
Hum fa fa fa fa hum fa fa fa
Hum fa fa fa fa hum fa fa fa
E-A-B is what I play
I pick the blues at sessions
I'm losing hundreds fans a day
I'm a stoned musician
When Eric played the blues
He went back to his roots
He realized six golden rules
Six, five, four, three, two
One, Lose a leg
Two, Don't stay white
Three, Remember blues is black
Four, Go blind
Five, Try to see
Six, A lot of misery
I shot my manager
Cause he used to keep my royalties
Hey record company
Wanna have a hit like Bob Marley
Misery, Misery
So get a gun and do it
Blues in F forget it
Reggae tune that's it
Money in your pocket
When Eric played the blues
He went back to his roots
He realized six golden rules
Six, five, four, three, two
(Hum fa fa fa fa hum fa fa fa)
One, Lose a leg
Two, Don't stay white
Three, Remember blues is black
Four, Go blind
Five, Try to see
Six, A lot of misery
One, Lose a leg
Two, Don't stay white
Three, Remember blues is black
Four, Go blind
Five, Try to see
Six, A lot of misery
