John Kander originally wrote this without fully realising that it was about his late partner, Fred Ebb. When he finally came to terms with it, he started editing it by adding more of the verses about collaboration and missing his friend by making it more about Ebb.
VERSE 1 [Aaron]
I miss the music
I miss the song
Since she's not with me
It comes out wrong

VERSE 2 [Aaron]

I wrote with her
VERSE 3 [Aaron]

VERSE 5 [Aaron]
I can't pretend
I miss the music
I miss my friend
No need to ask me
What I prefer
I choose the music
I wrote with here
I liked the music
I made with-
[Interrupted by Georgia]
[Various dialogue]
VERSE 6 [Aaron]
I miss the music
I miss my friend
No need to ask me
What I prefer
I choose the music
I wrote with her
I loved the music
I made with her
