This song, lyrics and tune, must have been written before 1967. I heard it in summer camp. It was not a gospel song. The song did not have any religious references then. It was just a song about nonconformity in the ‘hippie’ age.
I’m 75 now but it was one of my favourite camp songs back in the day....
[Intro]
(To This World)
[Verse 1]
In this world we have our trials
Sometimes lonesome, sometimes blue
But the hope of life eternal
Makes all old hopes brand new
[Chorus]
And I don't want to get adjusted to this world, to this world
I've got a home so much better
And I'm going to go there sooner or later
And I don't want to get adjusted to this world, to this world
[Verse 2]
Lord, I'm growing old and weary
And there's no place that feels like home
Saviour come
To where I
[Chorus]
[Outro]
And I don't want to get adjusted to this world, to this world
