In the November 28, 2009 issue of Kerrang! Magazine, Jared Leto was asked about the “Where is your God?” line, to which he replied:
Faith is an important topic on the record. There is a sense of a quest there. I haven’t reached any resolution in that quest, but it’s important to ask questions.
Was the original plan to have a feature guest on the song?
Yes! Kanye West was supposed to be the featured artist, however it did not materialize due to legal reasons. The Deluxe version of the the album contains the song “Hurricane 2.0” which has the Kanye West feature.
