Second single from Missio’s third album. “Hoodie Up” was inspired by frontman Matthew Brue’s stagefright and how putting his hoodie on (and up) helped him become a character on stage that allowed him to gain confidence and comfort while performing.
[Intro]
Bitch ass motherfucker, I said hoodie up
(Hoodie up, bitch)
[Verse 1]
Life is like Tetris, my time's precious
Will I ever figure out?
Doesn't always feel like I deserve the good life
This is what I'm all about
Sleepin' on a Sunday makes 'em into fun days
Thought that everybody knew
Depression on a Tuesday, a little bit cliché
I'm irrelevant, how do you do?
[Chorus]
If you need me, I'll be gone
I'm lookin' for a good time on my own, I'm all alone
If you need me, I'll be gone
I'm lookin' for a good time on my own, I'm all alone
[Post-Chorus]
Quit holding me down, quit holding me down
Shit, I don't want you holding me down
'Cause I'll break (Hoodie up, bitch)
[Verse 2]
Every day I'm restless, constantly aggressive
Overthinking what I do
I'm trying to be thankful, maybe even grateful
It's good to try something new
Unfortunately anxious, self-absorbed headcase
Thought that everybody knew
Some would call me moody, I would call it looney
President of life, how do you do?
[Chorus]
If you need me, I'll be gone
I'm lookin' for a good time on my own, I'm all alone
If you need me, I'll be gone
I'm lookin' for a good time on my own, I'm all alone
[Post-Chorus]
Quit holding me down, quit holding me down
Shit, I don't want you holding me down
'Cause I'll break
Quit holding me down, quit holding me down
Shit, I don't want you holding me down
'Cause I'll break
[Instrumental Bridge]
[Chorus]
If you need me, I'll be gone
I'm lookin' for a good time on my own, I'm all alone
If you need me, I'll be gone
I'm lookin' for a good time on my own, I'm all alone
[Post-Chorus]
Quit holding me down, quit holding me down
Shit, I don't want you holding me down
'Cause I'll break (I'm looking for a good time)
Quit holding me down, quit holding me down
Shit, I don't want you holding me down
'Cause I'll break (I'm looking for a good time)

At the beginning of MISSIO, a staple of ours and how we were represented live was by wearing a long-robed hood of sorts. Some people thought it was for fashion purposes (which it was to some extent) but, my main motivation in doing that was because I was sca...
