“Home by Ten” uses a repetitive guitar riff that seems to have been repurposed for “Sensational Gravity Boy,” which has appeared officially a few times, in a few distinct versions.
This song was later recycled as “When We All Hold Hands At The End Of The World” off of August by Cake.
You cry without open eyes
You claim that the world's unkind
But most of them have to be home by ten
The truth comes when you tell me lies
Come each time without troubled eyes
But most of them have to be home by ten
And run
The captain is gone
So we have to begin
You just cannot win
And I've got my gun
Point it at this world
So I've got to begin
You down yourself all the time
I hide from the world outside
But most of all we have to be strong again
Go now, don't go noticing
You've got time to enjoy your sin
But most of all we have to be strong again
And run
The captain is gone
So we have to begin
You just cannot win
And I've got my gun
Point it at this world
So I've got to begin
Home by Ten was written by Robert Pollard.
