“here” is the third single released by UK singer and producer, RIFT. It sees him take a much more dialled-back approach to production, and delve into more personal lyrics.
The song was later accompanied by a self-edited lyric video shot in MediaCity, Salford.
[Verse 1]
All that I have ever known is feeling like it's drawing to an end
Losing grip on everything I realize I can't take back what I said
But all your stories sound the same
So I should know
How you're feeling now
A precious moment washed away
Before I go
I'm breaking down
[Chorus]
And here I am
In the corner of the room in which I stand
Catastrophe
Surrounding me
And through the shadows, I can see so clearly
And here I am
In the corner of the room in which I stand
The apathy
Surrounding me
Choking up the air I breathe
[Verse 2]
You can't feel
What's not real
Is it even really worth it?
When you build a tower to watch it fall apart
All wounds heal
Sky fall field
So just breathe slow
It's all you know
Don't waste life sitting on the back bench
I know if I push it I can make it to the worlds end
Spent a couple years just living in a dream world
See now, it's all real
Breathe out, break these doors down
Fourth wall, rooftop falls round
Stare up at the twilight
For now, you're alright
[Chorus]
And here I am
In the corner of the room in which I stand
Catastrophe
Surrounding me
And through the shadows I can see so clearly
And here I am
In the corner of the room in which I stand
The apathy
Surrounding me
Choking up the air I breathe
[Bridge]
And I no longer feel as much
As I used to
And through the wave you dragged me down
And I see right through you
Trying to find you but you phased me out
I'm getting lost inside the feeling that I can't save this now
Seems I've forgotten the way that I used to see
Everything around and not just what's right in front of me (what's right in front of me)
(Seen any monsters lately?)
(No not me, I'm a happy person. See I can't- it doesn't hurt me)
