Here At My Day Job

I leave the bed and I kiss your face
Goodbye again ‘til the end of the day
Morning breaks and the grind begins
I check out when I clock in

I got a day job, what a drag
It does me like it did my dad
Him and a million unwilling souls
So this is how they get so old

Here at my day job
Away from the nightclub
I turn around and wonder what am I doing here?
I look across town and know you’re working there
Somewhere...
And I say to myself “we won’t be here next year!”

On the outside looking in
Man, it’s worse than school again
Sit down! Sit still! They’re in charge!
Oh, why on Earth am I on Mars?

Here at my day job

I’d never wear...
And I say to myself “we won’t be here next year!”
