[Introductory Poem]
What do roosters, when they discuss their henwives, have to say about them?
You know exactly what they say:
"Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em"
Meanwhile, the hens are complaining of boredom:
"He eats, then he naps! Might as well be thanksgiving!
He watches TV, and his sole conversation is
'Hey, honey, cock-a-doodle-do!'
This is living?"
Cocks and hens
Or, if you will, hens and cocks
Either way, the words have a cantankerous sound
They don't go together, yеt somehow, they do
And that, friends, is what makеs the merry go round
Hens and Roosters was written by Peter Schickele & Camille Saint-Saëns.
